Sudurpaschim: The Sudurpaschim provincial government has stated that revenue collection will not be halted, even though the budget for the fiscal year 2083/84 has not been passed by the provincial assembly. The Ministry of Economic Affairs issued a notice today confirming that revenue collection will continue.

The Finance Bill-2083, presented along with the budget, is still under consideration in the provincial assembly. The deadline for its passage expired on Thursday, creating confusion in the province.

The ministry has instructed all concerned to continue revenue collection-related work from today in accordance with Section 3 of the Provincial Revenue Collection Act, 2081, as per the provisions of the Provincial Finance Act, 2082.

A dispute between the ruling Nepali Congress and its coalition partner Nepal Communist Party (UML) emerged after the provincial government presented the budget for the fiscal year 2083/84 on Asad 1, leading to the delay in its passage.

Amid the dispute, Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah dismissed three ministers and one minister of state from UML. Following the withdrawal of UML’s support, the Chief Minister is working to secure a majority.
