Women apologize after vandalism incident at Infrastructure Development Office Kailali
Dhangadhi: An understanding has been reached between the Infrastructure Development Office Kailali and women from Shantinagar Tole, Dhangadhi-5, after the office filed a complaint at the District Police Office Kailali alleging abuse and vandalism.
During a discussion held at the District Police Office on Thursday, the women admitted that they had entered the office in an impulsive manner and vandalized the information board and suggestion box.
Chief Divisional Engineer of the Infrastructure Development Office Kailali, Deepak Negi, had filed a complaint against 10 to 12 women, including local Durga Bhatta, alleging that they entered the office, vandalized property and abused employees.
In the subsequent discussion, the women accepted their mistake and apologized, following which a reconciliation was reached, Engineer Negi said.
The District Police Office Kailali stated that the women have agreed not to enter any government office and engage in disorderly activities in the future. Police said the agreement was reached after the women acknowledged their mistake.
Earlier, the Infrastructure Development Office Kailali had filed a complaint demanding action against those involved in vandalism and disorderly activities. The office had claimed that they vandalized public property including information boards, complaint boxes and furniture, abused employees and locked the main entrance, disrupting office operations.
The complaint stated that vandalizing government offices, abusing public servants and attempting to intimidate them are punishable offenses under Chapter 26 of the Criminal Code, 2074 (Offenses against Public Peace), the Local Administration Act, 2028, and existing legal provisions related to the protection of public property.
