Flash flood risk in 44 districts including Kailali
Kathmandu: The risk of flash floods has increased in 44 districts across the country, with medium to high risk forecast for today.
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has stated that the water flow in small rivers in 39 districts, including Panchthar, Ilam, Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Saptari, Bhojpur, Sankhuwasabha, Udayapur, Sindhuli, Dolakha, Ramechhap, Sindhupalchowk, Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Kavrepalanchowk, Makawanpur, Parsa, Bara, Rautahat and Sarlahi, is likely to increase, creating a risk of flash floods.
The department has said there is a moderate risk of flash floods in small rivers flowing through Gorkha, Lamjung, Nawalparasi East, Nawalparasi West, Palpa, Parbat, Myagdi, Pyuthan, Rolpa, Dang, Salyan, Banke, Bardiya, Kailali and surrounding districts.
Similarly, there is a possibility of flash floods in small rivers in Chitwan, Tanahun, Kaski, Syangja, Surkhet and surrounding areas.
Flood expert Binod Parajuli has urged people to remain alert, stating that the flow of small rivers in all seven provinces may increase on Wednesday and Thursday.
