National Assembly passes Economic Bill, 2083 and sends it back to House of Representatives
Kathmandu: The National Assembly has passed the ‘Economic Bill, 2083’ in its meeting held today. The bill will now be sent back to the House of Representatives.
The bill, received from the House of Representatives with a message, was presented for decision after clause-by-clause discussion and was passed by a majority.
During the meeting, Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle presented a proposal to pass the bill without suggestions and send it back to the House of Representatives. Earlier, he had presented a proposal for clause-by-clause discussion on the bill.
Taking part in the clause-by-clause discussion, National Assembly members Dr. Prem Dangal, Samjhana Devkota, Roshni Meche and Somnath Portel urged the government not to increase taxes on education and health services.
During the zero hour of the meeting, members also drew the government’s attention to issues including the need to provide safe housing for squatters.
