DSP Chaudhary called to District Police Office Kailali over public remarks at event
Dhangadhi: DSP Prasanna Raj Chaudhary, chief of the Area Police Office Sukhad, has been called to the District Police Office Kailali following a statement he made during a public program in Kailali.
The District Police Office Kailali stated that he has been summoned to provide clarification regarding remarks made at an anti-drug awareness program held in Ghodaghodi Municipality-5, Darakh, and to undergo necessary inquiry.
According to Chief Superintendent of Police Narendra Chand of the District Police Office Kailali, DSP Chaudhary had initially been called for counseling on other matters. He said that after a video of the event surfaced publicly, further clarification regarding the statement in the video would also be sought.
“We had called him for counseling and discussion on other issues. There were some concerns related to that. Meanwhile, the video became public, so it is also necessary to understand the statement made in the video,” he said.
During the program, DSP Chaudhary stated that Nepal Police is not aligned with any individual or political leadership but functions as an institution guided by law.
“We are not Balen’s police, we are Nepal Police. We are the police who provide justice to those who are victims of injustice and oppression. We are the same police who arrested KP Oli; this Badri should not be appointed by the President,” he said.
In the video, he is seen asking students present at the event to clap if they agreed with his remarks, and the audience responded with applause.
He also mentioned that he joined the police service through a competitive process and expressed the view that the organization should operate based on legal procedures rather than political influence. In the same video, DSP Chaudhary can be heard requesting that the footage of his speech not be made public, though it later surfaced on social media.
