Kailali traffic police launch drug testing campaign, five drivers arrested for driving under influence

Dhangadhi: Traffic police in Kailali have started drug test targeting drivers driving on the highway.

The District Traffic Police Office had stopped drivers in the Godavari Municipality area on Sunday and conducted drug test. During the test, five drivers were arrested after it was confirmed that they were driving under the influence of drugs.

According to District Traffic Police Chief Traffic Police Inspector Resham Acharya, they were taken under control after they were found to be driving under the influence of drugs. Those arrested are Ramkrishna Chaudhary of Dhangarhi-7 Patel, driver of bus number Na 5 Kha 300, Suresh Bohara of Chhabispathivera Rural Municipality-3, Bajhang, Suresh Bohara of Chhabispathivera Rural Municipality-3, Bajhang, Phalida Rana of Dhangarhi, driver of Bolero jeep number Supp 01001 Cha 3631, Mahesh Bahadur Chand of Kanchanpur, and driver of bus number Supp 02001 Kha 1179, Dhirendra Karki of Dogadakedar, Baitadi.

According to the police, four of the five arrested are drivers who drive on hilly routes. Inspector Acharya informed that all five have been confirmed to have consumed drugs.

The traffic police said that they have been handed over to the Area Police Office, Malakheti for legal action.
