Five arrested with Heroin in Kanchanpur and Kailali, Scorpio vehicle seized

Dhangadhi: Police have arrested five individuals in Kanchanpur and Kailali districts of Sudurpaschim Province in possession of illegal brown heroin.

According to police, four individuals were apprehended on Thursday evening from Krishnapur Municipality-2, Nayabasti in Kanchanpur with 30 grams and 930 milligrams of brown heroin powder. The arrested have been identified as 40-year-old Lal Bahadur Sunar of Krishnapur-2, 31-year-old Hemraj Joshi, 31-year-old Bimal Pandey of Vedkot Municipality-7, Daiji, and 25-year-old Ashok Pandey of Taranagar-5, Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City in Kailali.

Acting on confidential information about ongoing drug transactions, a joint police team from the Narcotics Control Bureau Branch Office, Mahendranagar, and the Temporary Police Post, Bani, carried out the operation. The team also seized a Scorpio vehicle with registration number BAA 1351 used by the suspects.

In a separate incident, 23-year-old Lalit Rana Chhetri was arrested from Lamkichuha Municipality-1, Thakalipur in Kailali on Thursday evening with 150 milligrams of a brown heroin-like substance. Police from the Area Police Office, Lamki, recovered the substance during a check conducted based on confidential information.

Police said further investigations are underway against those arrested in both cases on charges related to drug offenses.
