Dhangadhi: The position of Sudurpaschim Province Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah has been temporarily strengthened after a provincial assembly member withdrew her support from the no-confidence motion filed against him.

The motion has been weakened after one of the MPs who had signed the no-confidence motion withdrew her support. Out of the nine MPs who had signed the proposal, Provincial Assembly member Dammari Mahara has withdrawn her signature. She stated that she took the decision in order to maintain unity within the Nepali Congress and prioritize preparations for the provincial budget.

Following Mahara’s decision, the number of MPs supporting the no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Shah has decreased, which has temporarily strengthened Shah’s position.

Earlier, a majority of Nepali Congress MPs had filed a no-confidence motion on Tuesday to remove Shah from the position of parliamentary party leader. The motion was registered at the Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party Office under the leadership of Provincial Assembly member Diwan Singh Bista.

Amid ongoing controversy over leadership changes within the Nepali Congress, the political balance within the party has taken a new turn following the withdrawal of support by one MP.
