Dhangadhi: Sudurpaschim Province Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah, while inaugurating the provincial hospital in Lamkichuha, Kailali, has called on all parties to rise above controversy and work together to ensure quality health services for citizens.

Amid ongoing tension over the hospital issue in recent days, Chief Minister Shah delivered a restrained and conciliatory message, urging all stakeholders to prioritize the effective operation of the hospital.

Speaking at a program held under tight security arrangements, Chief Minister Shah said he had not previously required the use of security agencies and remarked that the security mechanism had become active due to recent developments. “Today, for the first time, I felt like I was the Chief Minister,” he said. “But there is no need to interpret it otherwise, the common citizen is the top priority.”

He emphasized that operating the hospital effectively is now a shared responsibility. “What happened yesterday is less important than how we operate the hospital properly now,” he said. “Let administrative bodies work without obstruction; this is an issue that can be resolved.”

Chief Minister Shah also clarified that he has no personal interest in the hospital. “I have not recommended even a single office assistant here,” he said, adding that it is the provincial government’s responsibility to ensure employment opportunities for all.

He stressed the need for cooperation and dialogue between provincial and local governments and said he has been continuously working to foster a culture of dialogue in Sudurpaschim Province. “We must rise above personal interests and work for the benefit of the people,” he said.

Stating that there is still room for all sides to move forward together, he urged local representatives and citizens to play a constructive role. “Nothing has gone wrong yet, let’s move forward together,” he said.

Chief Minister Shah said that a provincial hospital is necessary as the existing basic hospital infrastructure is insufficient to operate a trauma center. He also informed that the budget has been allocated for the hospital this year and announced that dialysis services will be launched soon.

He further said that after the inauguration of the hospital, cooperation from the public is essential to ensure a safe and comfortable working environment for hospital staff. “This hospital belongs to the people, and everyone’s support is needed for its successful operation,” he said.
