Tiger attack in Kanchanpur leaves four injured, including minor
Kanchanpur: Four people, including a minor, were injured in a tiger attack in Kanchanpur.
The incident occurred on Tuesday evening near Kalikich within the Shuklaphanta National Park area while the victims were traveling from Mahendranagar to Beldandi. Approximately two kilometers from Kalikich, a motorcycle rider, Birendra Thagunna of Khajuwa, Belauri Municipality-9, along with his wife Kalpana Thagunna, their two-and-a-half-year-old son Riyans, and 14-year-old niece Aarushi Sahu, were attacked by a tiger on the postal road inside the park.
According to police, the attack took place at around 7:30 pm when the tiger lunged at the rider’s hand. Birendra Thagunna sustained injuries to his right leg, both hands, and other parts of his body, and his condition is reported to be normal, said Netramani Giri.
His wife and son, who were seated behind him, suffered injuries to the head, face, and legs and are in moderate condition. Aarushi Sahu, who was also riding behind, sustained injuries to the head, face, and hands and is reported to be in serious condition, police said.
After receiving initial treatment at Mahakali Provincial Hospital, the injured have been referred for further treatment at Maya Metro Hospital, according to the District Police Office, Kanchanpur.
