Westerly and local wind systems influence weather: hot conditions in the Terai, rainfall expected in hilly regions

Kathmandu: Nepal is currently under the influence of westerly winds, local wind systems, and a low-pressure area near the eastern part of the country. Due to these weather conditions, various parts of Nepal, including Kathmandu, witnessed rain accompanied by gusty winds on Tuesday.

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the afternoon will see partial cloud cover in the mountainous and hilly regions of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, while the Terai region will generally remain clear.

The division has stated that there is a possibility of moderate to heavy rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning in some places in the mountainous and hilly regions of Koshi and Madhes provinces, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, in a few places in the mountainous and hilly regions of Lumbini Province, and in one or two places in the Terai regions of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as in the mountainous and hilly regions of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

There is also a likelihood of hot daytime conditions in the Terai regions of Sudurpaschim and Lumbini provinces. Similarly, thunderstorms are expected in a few places in the Terai and hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, including Madhes Province, later in the afternoon.
