Eight arrested in Darchula over alleged abetment in Principal’s suicide

Dhangadhi: Police have arrested eight individuals in Darchula on charges of abetting the suicide of a school principal.

Baldev Singh Dhami, principal of Sampal Secondary School in Sunsera, Byas Rural Municipality-4, was found hanging on the school premises. Following the incident, police detained eight individuals as part of the ongoing investigation.

Those arrested have been identified as Bikram Singh Kunwar, 32, of Mahakali Municipality-1; Dalidatta Bhatta, 52, of Ward No. 2; Khimananda Bhatta, 42, of Ward No. 5; Paramananda Bhatta, 57, of Byas-4; Padamraj Bhatta, 39, of Byas-4; Narendra Dutta Bhatta, 43; Haridatta Bhatta, 59; and Pushkarraj Bhatta, 40, of Patan Municipality-4, Baitadi.

According to police, the individuals are being investigated on charges of abetting suicide. The detainees reportedly include school teachers, local public representatives, and construction entrepreneurs.

Prior to the incident, Principal Dhami had posted a suicide note on Facebook, in which he named individuals he alleged had driven him to take the step. Based on this, police have initiated further investigation, said Police Inspector Hemraj Bhatta, Information Officer at the District Police Office, Darchula.
