Darchula school principal found dead after posting emotional social media message alleging conspiracy

Dhangadhi: Baldev Singh Dhami, Principal of Sampal Secondary School in Sunsera, Byas Rural Municipality-4, Darchula, was found dead at the school premises after posting a long emotional status on Facebook in which he made serious allegations against various individuals and groups before his death.

In his social media post, Dhami alleged that he was subjected to systematic character assassination, mental stress, and social humiliation, which he claimed ultimately forced him to take his own life. Addressing his family, students, parents, and well-wishers, he stated that he had been a victim of a “conspiracy of enemies” while working to develop the school into a model institution.

In the same post, he detailed various achievements during his tenure at the school, claiming that under his leadership an 18-room concrete building, library, ICT laboratory, smart board, science laboratory, green school initiatives, and free uniform distribution for students were completed.

Dhami also accused certain teachers, local political figures, and construction entrepreneurs of conspiring to implicate him in a false rape case. He made public the names and phone numbers of some individuals and demanded legal action against them.

He wrote that his academic career and self-respect had been seriously damaged and that he was forced into suicide due to mental stress and depression. In an emotional message addressed to his wife and two sons, he urged his sons to remain strong and requested his wife to take special care of them.

He also called for a DNA test after his death and urged that the report be made public to prove the allegations against him false.

In his message, Dhami also addressed the Prime Minister, political party leaders, and the government, stating that “society cannot change under the influence of the elites.”

Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation into the incident. Darchula Police Chief DSP Gaurav Mahat said that efforts are underway to determine the exact cause of death and verify the allegations made by Dhami. He confirmed that the principal was found dead at the school residence on Monday morning, and a police team led by an inspector has been deployed for further investigation.
