Kathmandu: Labour Culture Party Chairman and MP Harkraj Rai has expressed strong objection over what he described as a breach of tradition in the appointment of the Chief Justice. He has also expressed regret over the Deputy Speaker elected from his own party through a statement.

He stated in the statement, “It was wrong to pressure the Head of State by deceiving the Parliament and issuing an ordinance related to the Constitutional Council. Wrong actions can never be called right. They should not be called so.” He also said that the government made another major mistake by appointing the fourth-ranked Chief Justice.

He questioned whether the party, which had promised stability and good governance to all Nepalis, was violating rules and making appointments in this manner. He said, “It is clear that these appointments may have been made to get decisions in his favor on issues like the cooperative fraud case and the Genji movement of Bhadra 23-24.”

He further criticized his own Deputy Speaker, stating, “In a situation where pressure and influence were created during the appointment meeting, including the need to bring new people together, and issues like MCC and SPP, it is regrettable that even the Deputy Speaker, who recently left the party, signed the decision by violating the order of precedence.”
