Shree Yuva Janhit club reaches Bhajahar cup football final as hosts

Dhangadhi: The host Shree Yuva Janhit Club has secured a place in the final of the 6th Nisarga Hospital Barka Bhajahar Cup Football Tournament being held in Kailari Rural Municipality of Kailali.

The tournament has been organized since Baisakh 17. In the second semifinal, Shree Yuva Janhit Club defeated Bhajani’s New Kali Shakti Youth Club 3-1 in a tiebreaker to reach the final. Both teams had ended the scheduled match with a five-goal draw. The host club will now compete for the title against Bardiya’s Nems Club in the final.

The winner of the tournament will receive a cash prize of Rs 100,000, while the runner-up will receive Rs 50,000. The main sponsor of the tournament is Nisarga Hospital and Research Center, Dhangadhi, with Kailari Rural Municipality serving as the main promoter. Various organizations and private business firms have also supported the event through sponsorship and promotion.

Held annually on the occasion of the Bhajahar festival, the competition aims to preserve and promote the traditional folk festivals and culture of the Tharu community, which are gradually disappearing. Traditional games of the Tharu community are also conducted alongside the football competition.
