Process to verify records and land of families displaced from Shuklaphanta National Park to advance
Kanchanpur: The government is set to move forward with identifying genuine victims and resolving the issues of families displaced from Shuklaphanta National Park in Kanchanpur. Efforts are being prioritized to collect records, identify land, and verify details to ensure that actual affected families are recognized.
Minister for Forests and Environment and Agriculture and Livestock Development Geeta Chaudhary has held discussions with senior officials of the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, focusing on the long-term management of families affected by the park. She emphasized the need to identify genuine victims and ensure their sustainable rehabilitation.
According to Minister Chaudhary, identification of real victims will be carried out by evaluating recommendations made by various commissions in the past, land ownership certificate distributions, and other relevant bases. Emphasis has also been placed on collecting detailed records of affected families, identifying available land, and verifying cost-related information.
The Ministry of Forests and Environment stated that there has been agreement to prepare a fact-based plan and implement it in a phased manner. The discussion was attended by Secretary of the Ministry of Forests and Environment Dr. Govinda Prasad Sharma, Director General of the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Dr. Buddhisagar Poudel, and Secretary of the Ministry of Land Management Madan Bhujel.
During the meeting, it was agreed that the concerned ministries would coordinate efforts to address the problems faced by families displaced from the park, according to Ministry Secretary Dr. Sharma. It was also expressed that long-pending issues of park-affected families will now be addressed with priority.
