Dhangadhi: The government has launched a national campaign to provide vitamin A capsules and deworming medicine to children across the country today and tomorrow. The two-day campaign is being conducted under the National Vitamin A Program run by the Ministry of Health and Population.

In Kailali alone, 66,424 children aged between 6 months and 5 years will be provided vitamin A capsules and deworming medicine. In addition, 98,455 children will be given deworming medicine, according to the Health Office Kailali.

Around 1,200 female health volunteers have been mobilized across the district’s 13 local levels for the program.

According to doctors, vitamin A plays an important role in children’s eyesight, immunity, and growth and development. Similarly, deworming medicine helps eliminate intestinal worms and reduces problems such as malnutrition, anemia, stomach pain, and diarrhea.

The Vitamin A program was launched in eight districts in 2050 BS and has been implemented nationwide since 2059 BS. Likewise, the deworming program was initiated in 13 districts in 2056 BS and has been implemented nationwide since 2067 BS.

The Health Office has urged that children who are left out during the campaign should contact the nearest health institution or female health volunteers to receive the service.
