Meetings scheduled today to select chairpersons of 12 parliamentary committees
Kathmandu: Meetings are being held today to select chairpersons for 12 thematic committees under the federal parliament. The leadership selection process has been moved forward for a total of 12 committees, including 10 from the House of Representatives and two jointly from the House of Representatives and the National Assembly.
Dr. Krishnahari Budhathoki has filed his candidacy for the chairmanship of the Finance Committee, Sumnima Udas for the International Relations and Tourism Committee, Rahawar Ansari for the Industry and Commerce, Labor and Consumer Welfare Committee, Simkisha Baskota for the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee, Hari Dhakal for the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee, and Bharat Bahadur Khadka for the Public Accounts Committee.
Similarly, Aakriti Awasthi has filed his candidacy for the Women and Social Affairs Committee, Ashish Gajurel for the Infrastructure Development Committee, and Ashok Chaudhary for the Agriculture, Cooperatives and Natural Resources Committee. The competition for the chairmanship of the Education, Health and Information Technology Committee is between Dr. Ojaswi Sherchan of the National Independent Party and Guru Prasad Baral of the CPN (UML).
Bodh Narayan Shrestha has filed his candidacy for the post of Chairman of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee under the Joint Committee, while Ganesh Karki of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Madan Kumari Shah (Garima) of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) are in the election race for the post of Chairman of the State Directive Principles, Policies and Responsibilities Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Committee.
Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal is scheduled to administer the oath to the elected chairpersons at 4 pm today.
