Dhangadhi: Police have arrested one person in connection with a case of caste discrimination and untouchability in Kanchanpur.

According to police, the incident began after a dispute over an unclaimed piece of wood found during a patrol in a community forest, which was kept at home and later taken away without permission and sold to smugglers.

A complaint was registered on Chaitra 24 alleging that members of the Dalit community were subjected to abuse, public humiliation, boycott, and discrimination.

The District Police Office stated that the accused used the derogatory term ‘dum’ and warned members of the Dalit community not to question them, amounting to untouchable behavior.

Police Inspector Dambardatta Bhatta confirmed that the incident occurred in Bhimdatta Municipality-7 and said that the identities of both the victim and the accused have not been disclosed. Police have stated that further investigation into the case is underway.
