Harka Sampang launches 'Shramdan' campaign for bridge construction in Darchula
Dhangadhi: Labor Culture Party Chairman and House of Representatives member Harka Raj Rai, popularly known as Harka Sampang, has arrived in the Far West to oversee the construction of a bridge in Darchula. He departed Kathmandu on Monday morning and proceeded toward Darchula after arriving at Dhangadhi Airport.
Speaking to the media at Dhangadhi Airport, Sampang called on the public to participate in the bridge construction through Shramdan. He emphasized that the bridge will be built entirely within Nepali territory and expressed the goal of completing the project as quickly as possible.
Claiming that lakhs of people have joined his Shramdan campaign, Sampang stated that the bridge will be constructed locally by purchasing the necessary materials in Darchula. He clarified that the initiative is not politically motivated and highlighted that the practice of Shramdan has been limited in the Far West region, making this campaign a pioneering effort.
Earlier on Monday, Sampang announced on social media that he was heading to Darchula for Shramdan and urged public participation, writing: “I am going to Darchula! Come and build a bridge by doing Shramdan! Why take a foreign loan? I am going!”
Notably, Sampang had proposed the construction of the bridge in Darchula after being elected and has already sent a technical team to the area as part of the plan.
