Kathmandu: Rastriya Atiduba Party (RASWP) MP Sita Badi has assumed office as the Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens.

She has become the first minister from the Badi community in Nepal. Upon taking charge, she became emotional and, wiping tears from her eyes, said, “I never thought I would come this far.” She described her appointment as a historic moment, noting that she had faced caste-based exclusion throughout her life. “Now I will be responsible and active in social transformation,” she said.

Minister Badi, who has been involved in women’s empowerment through social organizations, is a permanent resident of Birendranagar Municipality-14 in Surkhet, Karnali Province, and is currently residing in Budhanilkantha-8 in Kathmandu. She has faced challenges related to poverty and social discrimination throughout her life and had joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

Elected to the House of Representatives through the proportional representation system, she continued her education from the age of 13 with financial support from the organization. After completing her graduation, she established a social organization aimed at ending discrimination and empowering women.

She stated that, as minister, she will work on a larger scale to address the issues faced by marginalized women.
