Dhangadhi: The Sudurpaschim provincial government has decided to tighten regulations to streamline the supply of petroleum products and essential commodities. The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah to ensure smooth and uninterrupted supply. The government has assured the public that the current market situation is not inconvenient and urged residents not to be alarmed.

Despite this, a shortage of cooking gas has been reported in major markets of the province, including the temporary capital Dhangadhi, with consumers complaining of arbitrary price increases by traders.

The meeting decided to closely monitor the supply, price, quality, and purity of essential commodities, including diesel, petrol, and cooking gas. Authorities have been instructed to prevent black marketing, artificial shortages, and overpricing through effective market supervision.

The government stated that strict action will be taken under existing law against anyone found hiding petroleum products or other essential commodities, creating artificial shortages, or selling at inflated prices.

The meeting also emphasized spreading public awareness on the economical use of gas and petroleum products, measures to reduce consumption, ensuring easy supply, and promoting alternative energy sources. Various government officials, representatives of security agencies, and stakeholders from industry and business attended the meeting.
