Tubewell boring installed to address irrigation shortage in Kanchanpur
Kanchanpur: The long-standing irrigation shortage faced by farmers of Shuklaphanta Municipality-3 in Kanchanpur has been resolved.
Local farmers have gained access to irrigation facilities after the Water Resources and Irrigation Development Division Office in Dhangadhi installed an autogen (tubewell) boring in the area. In the past, the lack of a reliable irrigation system had forced farmlands to remain fallow. The project, implemented at a cost of Rs 4 million, aims to provide irrigation facilities to about 60 bighas of land.
“Previously, farmers had to draw water from streams and rivers using pump sets to irrigate their fields,” said Ward No. 3 Chairman Narendra Prasad Chaudhary. “Farmers were financially affected as it required a lot of money.”
Local farmer Mohan Chaudhary said that after the boring was installed, they no longer had to go through the cumbersome process of drawing water from streams and rivers for irrigation. More than three hundred farmers in the area will directly benefit from the boring connection.
