Nepali congress threatens nationwide protests if election commission fails to recognize party leadership
Kathmandu: The Nepali Congress, led by Sher Bahadur Deuba, has warned of a nationwide protest if the Election Commission does not recognize its current leadership. Speaking at a press conference at the party’s central office, acting president Purna Bahadur Khadka stated that the party is prepared to take to the streets in such a scenario.
“We do not think that the Election Commission will go the wrong way. However, there are doubts,” Khadka said. “If the Election Commission does not recognize the Nepali Congress we are leading, the Congress is ready to protest across the country. We will protest from village to village, ward to ward with the four-star flag.”
He further instructed party cadres and affiliated organizations nationwide to join the protests at the party’s call if the situation arises.
