Congress special general convention to conduct elections under old statute

Kathmandu: The special general convention organized by supporters of the Nepali Congress is set to conduct elections in accordance with the party’s old statute.

The election committee formed by the special general convention announced this decision at a press conference held on Sunday, stating that the elections will be conducted under the provisions of the previous statute of the party.

According to the old statute, the convention will elect one president, two vice presidents, two general secretaries, eight joint general secretaries and 121 members, said Sitaram KC, senior advocate and coordinator of the election committee.

The five-member election committee was formed under the coordination of senior advocate KC in line with the procedure adopted by the special general convention.

Coordinator KC also informed that the candidate nomination process will be held from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. He said that while there were 4,743 voters in the 14th general convention of the Nepali Congress, the current number of general convention delegates stands at 4,635 after excluding those who have passed away or joined other political parties.
