Police arrest Doti-based ASI on charge of killing his four-month-old son
Kathmandu: Police have arrested Nepal Police Assistant Inspector (ASI) Pushkar Karki on serious charges in connection with the death of his own four-month-old baby. The Kathmandu Police Range stated that the preliminary investigation indicates the incident stemmed from ongoing disputes between the couple over medical treatment.
According to SP Pawan Bhattarai, Karki was arrested on Sunday evening. At the time of the incident, he was serving at the Tribhuvan International Airport Security Police Office. His wife, Krishna Kunwar, is also a serving police personnel in the Nepal Police. Both are permanent residents of Shikhar Municipality-5, Doti.
Police said the incident occurred at a rented room in Sinamangal, Kathmandu. Following an escalation of the dispute, Karki allegedly injured his wife, and the four-month-old baby was found in critical condition. The infant later died due to the injuries.
Krishna Kunwar is currently undergoing treatment at the Nepal Police Hospital in Maharajgunj. According to initial information, the couple had been having frequent arguments because the child was suffering from a congenital health problem.
Police have taken Karki into custody and are conducting a detailed investigation into the incident.
