Sudurpaschim government to provide Rs 800,000 assistance to Achham fire victims

Kailali: The Sudurpaschim provincial government has decided to provide financial aid to victims of the fire that broke out in Hat Bazaar, Sanfebagar Municipality-3, Achham, last Saturday night.

A meeting of the Provincial Disaster Management Council, chaired by Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah at his residence, resolved to provide immediate financial assistance of Rs 800,000 to Sanfebagar Municipality for distribution among the fire-affected families and business owners.

Chief Minister Shah stated, “It has been decided to provide Rs 800,000 as humanitarian assistance to the families and businessmen affected by the fire in Sanfebagar Bazaar through the municipality immediately. The concerned municipality will prepare clear criteria and distribute this assistance to the victims.”

The council also decided to recommend to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development the immediate reconstruction of bridges damaged by floods and landslides in Tinkar and Chhangru areas of Byas Rural Municipality-1 in Darchula district last Bhadra.

Additionally, it was decided to recommend to the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment to make necessary arrangements for the distribution of safety equipment, including flashlights, at the local level. This is aimed at minimizing human casualties, attacks on settlements, and crop damage caused by wild animals in Laljhandi Rural Municipality, Belauri, Shuklaphanta, Bedkot, Bhimdatta, and Dodhara Chandani Municipality of Kanchanpur, Chief Minister Shah informed.
