Kailali teenager missing in Kaligandaki river for a week

Dhangadhi: A 15-year-old teenager from Kailali has been missing in the Kaligandaki River for a week. Bakhat Shahi of Lamkichuha Municipality-1, Kailali, went missing last Wednesday while swimming in Ramdi, Galyang Municipality-1, Syangja, according to Prasanna Raj Chaudhary, Information Officer at the District Police Office and Deputy Superintendent of Police.

Shahi had traveled to Pokhara with friends from Kailali, including 16-year-old Biraj Neupane. Both entered the Kaligandaki River to swim, and while in the water, they were swept away. Neupane was rescued safely while floating, but Shahi remains missing.

Deputy Superintendent Chaudhary stated that the search operation for Shahi has been intensified with active participation from the Armed Police Force Disaster Management Group, Syangja, Nepal Police, and his relatives. A trained team from the Armed Police Force is conducting searches in the river and downstream areas with the assistance of a rafting boat.
