Chief Minister Shah directs monitoring of minimum support price implementation for rice
Dhangadhi: Sudurpaschim Province Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah has directed the Chief District Officer (CDO) of Kailali to monitor whether farmers are receiving the minimum support price for rice.
The instruction follows complaints from farmers that they have not been paid the government-fixed support price. On Tuesday, Chief Minister Shah contacted CDO Krishna Prasad Lamsal and ordered him to conduct monitoring. He also directed that action be taken against traders found violating the government’s pricing policy.
On Asoj 11, 2082, CDO Lamsal had issued a public notice announcing the minimum support price of coarse rice at Rs 3,463.81 per quintal and medium rice at Rs 3,628.33 per quintal, as set by the Government of Nepal.
The notice had urged all municipalities to ensure the implementation of the government’s decision and to facilitate buying and selling of rice at the designated prices. According to the Chief Minister’s Office, CDO Lamsal stated in a telephone conversation that he will visit all local levels in Kailali immediately after Chhath to monitor the situation.
