Road upgrading underway in Kanchanpur with world bank grant
Kanchanpur: Road upgrading work has begun in Laljhadi Rural Municipality of Kanchanpur with a grant of Rs 294.643 million from the World Bank.
The project, being implemented under the Provincial and Local Road Infrastructure Program, involves upgrading and blacktopping a 13.6-kilometer road from Chandev Rural Municipality-6 to Kathmandu Danda in Ward No. 2.
Rural Municipality Chairperson Nirmal Rana said the road will be blacktopped with a width of five meters, while the total width, including drains, will range from eight to ten meters. “A contract was signed with Dukuchu/Anak/Joshi JV for the blacktopping work in Baisakh, and construction will begin within a few days,” Rana said, adding that the project deadline has been set for the month of Jestha.
Once completed, the upgraded road will improve connectivity to the Sudurpaschim Province headquarters in the east and the district headquarters and Belauri-Kaluwapur Highway in the west.
According to Ramchandra Khatri, Manager of the Provincial and Local Road Infrastructure Program, discussions are ongoing with affected families in areas where land issues exist, and efforts are being made to resolve them to ensure smooth progress in construction.
