Baitadi: With the change in weather, the number of viral fever, cold, and cough patients has increased in villages across Baitadi.

Shikharpur Health Post Chief Bir Bahadur Bohara confirmed a rise in viral fever cases in rural areas, noting that the number of patients has grown compared to previous weeks. Similarly, Rauleshwor Health Post Chief Naresh Madai reported that most patients visiting the health post are suffering from viral fever.

Premsagar Bhatta, Chief and Public Health Inspector at the Patan Primary Health Center, said that around 70 patients visit the center daily, with half of them diagnosed with viral fever.

District Hospital Baitadi has also recorded a sharp rise. Information officer Harish Pant said the hospital receives over 40 viral fever patients daily. He added that cases of dengue and scrub typhus have also been reported.

Common symptoms include fever, chills, mild cough, sore throat, sneezing, runny nose, headache, and body or joint pain.

Health workers have urged residents to drink only boiled or purified water, warning that seasonal changes have contributed to the rise in viral infections.
