Kanchanpur: The construction of a suspension bridge has significantly eased travel for locals, connecting Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City-13 of Kailali with Rajghat in Krishnapur Municipality-9, Kanchanpur.

Krishnapur Municipality had awarded the contract for the bridge in fiscal year 2078/79 at a cost of Rs 8.09 million. Built in partnership with the consumer committee and a construction company, the project was completed in fiscal year 2080/81, according to municipal engineer Bishnu Joshi.

Previously, travel from Majgai in Ward No. 8 was especially difficult during the rainy season when the Mohana River flooded. “Traveling to and from Dhangadhi was challenging, especially during floods, but the bridge has solved that problem,” said local resident Sharada Devi Chaudhary.

Locals say the bridge has not only improved access to Dhangadhi for health, business, and other purposes, but has also attracted domestic tourists. “We are happy with the construction. Now many people from Krishnapur and Dhangadhi visit the bridge,” said resident Rekha Chaudhary.

Local Padam BK added that the bridge has become a gathering spot. “On holidays, there is a crowd of people visiting and making TikTok videos on the bridge. Traffic between Dhangadhi and Rajghat has increased significantly since its construction,” he said.
