Orientation Session Connects Youth and Artisans at Seto Ghar Farm & Resort
Dhangadhi, August 24 : A week-long orientation session held from August 17 to 24 at Seto Ghar Farm & Resort brought together local youth and skilled artisans to explore ways of preserving traditional crafts through modern tools. Organized under the Alumni Small Grant (ASG) initiative, the event gathered eight participants, including artisans involved in weaving, handicrafts, and other cultural art forms.
The interactive sessions provided a platform for artisans to share personal stories about how they learned their crafts and the challenges they face in growing their businesses. One of the key themes throughout the week was the introduction of digital platforms and their potential to transform local enterprises.
Participants were introduced to tools such as social media, online marketplaces, and digital storytelling, aimed at helping them reach broader audiences, increase sales, and preserve traditional practices in a changing economy.
Many attendees acknowledged a lack of awareness regarding the use of digital platforms for business growth. During reflection sessions, several expressed that the program helped them realize "the power of digital space" and encouraged them to explore markets beyond their local communities.
The final day concluded with a strong commitment to further learning. A follow-up practical workshop will now guide participants in creating brand stories, capturing product videos, and setting up Facebook pages to establish a stronger online presence for their crafts.
