Gyanendra Raj Pandey of Dhangadhi wins gold at Asian powerlifting championship 2025
Dhangadhi: Gyanendra Raj Pandey, owner and trainer of Black Stone Fitness on Dhangadhi Main Road, claimed first place and the gold medal in the Asian Powerlifting Championship 2025.
Competing in the men’s 85 kg, M 45-49 category, Pandey lifted a total of 530 kg, comprising a 192 kg squat, 118 kg bench press, and 220 kg deadlift.
Expressing his pride, Pandey said, “I felt honored to represent Team Nepal. All Nepali players performed well, and I was fully confident that I would win.”
The championship was held at the Blue Pavilion of the Nepal Police Club in Kathmandu from 30th Shrawan to 1st Bhadra, with around 140 athletes from Nepal, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Australia participating.
Following his achievement, Pandey was presented with a certificate and medal by World Powerlifting President Robert Wilkes, Chief Guest MP Gagan Thapa, and NYFC Nepal President Sukhdev Karki.
