Chaitanya to host third provincial taekwondo competition in Dhangadhi

Dhangadhi: Chaitanya Pathshala, a prominent institution known for integrating education and culture, is set to host the Chaitanya Third Far West Provincial Level Taekwondo Competition 2082. The event will take place from 15th to 17th Jestha at the Chaitanya Pathshala Futsal Ground in Dhangadhi-5, Shivnagar.

Olympian and Director of the National Team Preparation at the National Sports Council (NSC), Deepak Bista, will grace the competition as the chief guest. The opening ceremony will feature a demonstration flight of a new RC plane by young scientist Aryan BK, who is engaged in research in aeronautics engineering.

The competition, organized by Chaitanya Pathshala’s sister organization, Chaitanya Taekwondo Dojang, will utilize a sensor-based scoring system. Participants from all districts of the Far West Province are expected to compete, with the event aiming to showcase the enthusiasm and talent of young taekwondo practitioners while contributing to the overall development of the sport in the region.

At a press conference held on Tuesday, Chaitanya Pathshala Director Katak Bahadur Singh emphasized the institution’s commitment to promoting sports in the Far West and highlighted its previous experience in organizing successful city and district-level competitions.

Chairman of Chaitanya Pathshala, Ganesh Prasad Joshi, stated that the Far West region is a hub for taekwondo and affirmed the school's vision of advancing athletes from the region to the national and Olympic levels. He added that having successfully moved from local to provincial-level competitions, the next goal is to host the event at the national level.

Principal Premnidhi Ojha underscored the school's mission of nurturing capable citizens through both education and sports, noting that Chaitanya Pathshala’s activities are closely connected with the community.

With over 200 athletes expected to participate, the competition has been elevated from district to provincial status. The total estimated cost of the event is NPR 777,000.

The registration fee for participants from Kailali district is NPR 500 per player, while players from other districts are required to pay NPR 1,000. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top-performing teams: NPR 50,000 for first place, NPR 30,000 for second, and NPR 20,000 for third. In addition, the best male and female competitors will each receive NPR 5,000.

The competition is sponsored by Dahapal Books and Stationery, with Raj Group as the co-sponsor. Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City Ward No. 5 is the event’s promoter, according to information shared at the press event.
