Dhangadhi’s greenery campaign expands with 1,365 more saplings planted
Dhangadhi: In a significant effort to promote greenery, Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City has planted 1,365 saplings along the roadsides of Ward No. 16 as part of its ongoing Greenery Dhangadhi Campaign.
Under the third phase of the initiative, saplings have been planted along the roads in Bhada, Ghasinta, Ghurahi, Biusa, and Rampur with protective tree guards, according to Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City. The campaign aims to enhance urban greenery and make Dhangadhi an eco-friendly city.
Narendra Bahadur Khati, Chief Administrative Officer, stated that local residents have been actively participating in the large-scale tree plantation campaign since its inception. He highlighted that the initiative has received financial support from both local and overseas Nepalis, which has been utilized for the purchase of saplings and protective fences.
Launched in the fiscal year 2079/80, the campaign operates under the slogan ‘Green Dhangadhi City’ and has successfully planted trees along key roads, including:
- The 6-lane road median from Traffic Chowk to Kailali Pool
- The postal road from Campus Chowk to Manehara
- The stretch from Shahid Gate to Campus Road
- Various inner roads within the city
To ensure the survival of the saplings, wire mesh and tree guards have been installed, while regular weeding, fertilization, and irrigation are being carried out. The Sub-metropolitan City has urged all residents to take responsibility for protecting and nurturing the trees in front of their homes, reinforcing the community’s role in sustaining urban greenery.
