Baitadi: After a prolonged disruption due to a lack of specialist doctors, gynecology and obstetrics services have resumed at Baitadi District Hospital.

According to District Hospital Information Officer Harish Pant, the service has been reinstated following the arrival of gynecology and obstetrics specialist Dr. Ram Kumar Yadav. With the presence of a specialist, women in the district can now receive essential maternal healthcare locally, eliminating the need to travel outside the district or to Pithoragarh, India, for treatment.

Dr. Yadav was deployed to the District Hospital by the Sudurpaschim Province Government under a consultation service program. Additionally, Dr. Nischal Gyawali has also joined as a medical officer on a scholarship contract, said Hospital Management Committee Chair Parbati Bhatta.

Currently, the District Hospital is staffed with nine doctors, including two specialists, a dentist, and six health officers. The hospital has recently placed a strong emphasis on expanding healthcare services to better serve the local population.
