Absconding Nepali Congress leader arrested on murder charges in Kanchanpur

Kanchanpur: A Nepali Congress leader who had been absconding in a murder case has been arrested.

Chief Superintendent of Police (SP) Chakraraj Joshi of Kanchanpur informed that Uddhav Bohara, 34, a resident of Bedkot Municipality-1, was apprehended in Kathmandu and brought back to Kanchanpur.

Bohara, who is also a member of the District Working Committee of Nepali Congress Kanchanpur, is accused of murdering Harka Bahadur Khadayat of Bedkot. According to SP Joshi, on Kartik 28, 2080, Bohara and a group of individuals allegedly surrounded and assaulted Khadayat while he was returning from Deusi-Bhailo celebrations in Hattithala, Bedkot Municipality-1.

Initially, a manslaughter case was registered against five individuals, including Bohara. However, following Khadayat's death during treatment on Poush 10, 2080, the charges were upgraded to murder.

Although Bohara has been taken into custody, four other accused individuals remain at large. Police have launched a search operation to locate them.
