Bajura woman found in India after 25 years of disappearance
Bajura: A woman from Budhiganga Municipality-3, Bajura, who had been missing for 25 years, has been found in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, India.
Identifying herself as Shanti, the elderly woman was located at a One Stop Center shelter in Pithoragarh, according to Naveen Joshi, head of KIN (KIN) India, which operates the shelter.
After spending years on the streets, she was rescued by Indian police and taken to the shelter. Despite efforts by the Indian police and various organizations to trace her family, she remained unidentified for years. Joshi stated that following multiple consultations, the Indian police shared her information and photo on social media in an attempt to locate her relatives.
Her daughter, Varsha Shah, recognized the image and confirmed her identity. The 70-year-old woman, who has been residing at the One Stop Center shelter since 2007, has now reconnected with her family. Her husband, Chandra Bahadur Shah, and son, Bhupendra Shah, who reside in Budhiganga Municipality-3, Bajura, have also established contact.
