Three arrested for accepting bribe of Rs 39,500 in Kailali
Dhangadhi: Three individuals have been arrested in Kailali for accepting a bribe of Rs 39,500 under the pretext of securing the release of a prisoner.
A police team from the District Police Office, Kailali, apprehended the suspects on Friday evening. The trio had taken the bribe from the family members of a detainee in police custody on drug-related charges in Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City-1, promising to facilitate his release.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Rupak Saund (29), Ramesh Saund (22), and Hark Saund (19), all residents of Gauriganga Municipality-7, according to Darshan Khadka, co-spokesperson and police inspector of the District Police Office, Kailali.
Inspector Khadka stated that the suspects demanded money on the pretext of arranging the detainee's release and had also negotiated for an additional sum after the release. The three are currently in police custody as further investigations and legal proceedings are underway.
