Illegal goods worth Rs 6 lakh seized in Kailali
Dhangadhi: Authorities have confiscated illegal goods valued at over Rs 6 lakh from various locations across Kailali district. The items were reportedly smuggled into Nepal through Indian border points, evading customs duties.
A police team deployed from the District Police Office, Kailali, and its subordinate units recovered the goods, which were estimated to be worth Rs 6,02,650. Fish, sugar, onions, and groceries worth approximately Rs 32,750 were seized from Adarsh Chowk and Tribenighat in Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City. Similarly, clothing valued at Rs 2,31,800 was found in Chowkidara, Godavari Municipality-3.
In Manikapur of Kailari Rural Municipality-5, a 200 AH inverter, batteries, clothing, and nylon ropes amounting to Rs 1,95,500 were confiscated. Additionally, oil, socks, fish, and peanuts worth Rs 18,400 were recovered from Beluwa of Tikapur Municipality-8. Fish, green chilies, and water chestnuts worth Rs 30,200 were seized from Kanda and Pahalwanpur in Bhajani Municipality, while sugar valued at Rs 4,000 was recovered from Fadiya in Joshipur Rural Municipality-3.
The District Police Office, Kailali, confirmed the recovery and reiterated its commitment to curbing the illegal import of goods into the district.
