Chhath festival concludes with Argha to the rising sun
Dhangadhi: The Chhath festival, which began on Kartik Shukla Chaturthi, concluded on Friday with devotees offering argha (sacred offerings) to the rising sun. Chhath was bid farewell as devotees gathered to give argha to the rising sun at various water reservoirs nationwide, including the Mohana River Ghat in Kailali’s Dhangadhi and Godavari River Ghat in Attaria.
The festival came to an end with argha offerings at Chhath Ghats across the country, from Bagmati Ghat in Kathmandu’s Budhanilkantha and Guhyeshwari near Pashupati to major sites in the Terai region and cities like Mahottari, Dhanusha, Siraha, Saptari, Sunsari, Morang, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara, Parsa, and Mithilanchal.
On Thursday, the primary day of Chhath, those fasting offered argha to the setting sun before keeping vigil overnight at Chhath Ghats. The observance of Chhath rituals began the day after Kojagrat Purnima, on Kartik Krishna Pratipada.
