145 road accidents in Sudurpaschim in the last 10 months
Dhangadhi: Priti Mishra, who is studying in the second year of graduation, was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident on 5th Baisakh when she was coming from Dipayal in Doti to Dhangadhi.
Preeti, who was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident in Dadeldhura, died during treatment in New Delhi, India. She was studying at Aishwarya Multipurpose Campus in Dhangadhi. Similarly, the former president of Dadeldhura also died in a motorcycle accident on 24 Baisakh.
55-year-old Purna Bahadur Air of Alital Rural Municipality-1 died when a bus and a motorcycle collided in Budhitola, Godawari Municipality-4 of Kailali. These two incidents are only representative examples.
In the 10 months of the current financial year, the number of premature deaths in road accidents has reached 145 in Far West. Until that period, 145 people including 15 men, 20 women and 10 children died prematurely due to road accidents. 455 people were injured.
During that period, 175 motorcycles, 44 jeeps/cars, 32 tractors, 18 buses, 18 bicycles/rickshaws, 16 tempos, 14 trucks, tankers, seven tippers, seven micros and three dozers have been involved in 338 vehicle accidents. Last year, 177 people died and 255 vehicles met with an accident.
One hundred and ninety-seven people were seriously injured and two hundred and seventy-six people were slightly injured. The traffic police in Sudurpaschim province has collected 4 crore 16 lakh 11 thousand revenue in 10 months of the current financial year.
Anil Kumar Upreti, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Nepal Police Highway Safety and Traffic Management Office, Attaria, said that the traffic police collected the revenue by taking action against drivers who violated traffic rules during the period from July to mid-May of the current financial year. He said that in the last fiscal year 2079-80, 12,655 vehicles violating traffic rules were prosecuted and 64,372,000 revenue was collected from that action.
