'Mayor’s Education Reform Fund' successfully raises more than 13 lakhs
Dhangadhi: Nearly 1.4 million rupees have been collected in the 'Mayor’s Education Reform Fund' established to educate children from underprivileged families in Dhangadhi, Kailali.
Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan city has established the 'Mayor’s Education Reform Fund' to support the education of children from underprivileged families. So far, nearly 14 lakh rupees have been accumulated in the fund.
Due to lack of finances, the Mayor's Education Reform Fund has been established to support the education of children who have problems in affording school uniforms and educational materials. So far, 13 lakh 99 thousand rupees have been accumulated in the fund from various organizations.
The sub-metropolitan city has started a campaign to create a model school by selecting community schools in rural areas. According to the sub-metropolitan municipality, the Mayor's Education Reform Fund has been established so that children studying in government schools do not have to drop out of school due to lack of finances. Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan mayor Gopal Hamal said that every possible effort will be made to improve the education quality for children from poor families.
He said that since the sub-metropolitan city alone cannot invest in education, he requested the locals to help with donations to improve the education quality for children from underprivileged families.
Shivraj Pant, the founder of LRI School in Kathmandu, has so far contributed five lakhs to the Mayor's Education Reform Fund, Himalayan Bank Dhangadhi Branch donated Rs 199,500, Machhapuchhre Bank Dhangadhi Branch donated Rs 497,000, Prabhu Bank Dhangadhi Branch donated Rs 52,500 and Mahalakshmi Bikas Bank Dhangadhi Branch donated Rs 1 lakh. 50 thousand.
