Dhangadhi to Host National Kho Kho Tournament for Men and Women
Dhangadhi: The city of Dhangadhi in Kailali is set to host the prestigious Men's and Women's National Kho Kho Tournament. Organized by the Nepal Kho Kho Association, the inaugural U-21 Men's and Women's Kho Kho Championship will take place in Dhangadhi from Chait 24th to 27th.
Teams representing six provinces, in addition to Karnali, will compete in both the men's and women's categories. With a total of 172 participants, including 144 players, 24 coaches, and 6 team managers, the tournament promises to showcase the best talents in the sport. The Sudurpaschim Kho Kho Sangh is co-organizing the event alongside the Nepal Kho Kho Association.
Pradeep Maharjan, the president of the association, revealed that a handsome prize money distribution awaits the winners. The championship will award 50,000 rupees to the victorious team, 30,000 rupees to the runner-up, and 20,000 rupees to the third-placed team. Additionally, the best runner and chaser from the tournament will each receive a cash prize of 10,000 rupees.
While Kho Kho has been established as a popular sport in Nepal since 2052, this tournament marks a significant milestone as it focuses on the U-21 age group for the first time, signifying the association's commitment to nurturing young talents in the game.
