Tiger Sighting Sparks Panic in Belauri Municipality of Kanchanpur
Kanchanpur: The village of Belauri Municipality-8 Pachui in Kanchanpur is in a state of heightened anxiety following the sighting of a tiger in the vicinity.
Panic ensued in the village when reports emerged that a tiger had been spotted near the Jagannath temple in Pachui on a Tuesday afternoon, making its way into a sugarcane field. Anil Chaudhary, a local resident, recounted his firsthand experience of encountering the tiger while 1engaged in sugarcane loading. In response to this alarming development, a joint search operation involving forest personnel, Nepal Police, Armed Police, and local authorities is underway in the Pachui area under the jurisdiction of the sub-division forest office in Pachkadia.
The uncertainty surrounding the identity of the animal—whether it is indeed a tiger or another species—has prompted the Belauri Municipality to initiate drone searches in the suspected area where the tiger was last seen, as confirmed by Jogram Choudhary, the Deputy Mayor of the city. Notably, this incident follows a tragic event in the Pachui area on April 22, 2022, where a local woman lost her life after being attacked by a tiger. The ongoing search efforts underscore the urgency of addressing the potential threat posed by the presence of a tiger in the region.
