Significant Contraband Seizures in Kanchanpur Unveil Illicit Imports

Kanchanpur: Law enforcement authorities in Kanchanpur recently made substantial seizures of goods valued at approximately three lakhs, shedding light on a network engaged in illegal cross-border trade. The seized items, totaling 1 lakh 71 thousand 500, comprised sugar, onions, oil, pulses, plastic film, grocery items, and clothing, all clandestinely brought into Bhimdatta Municipality-6 Bangaon, evading customs protocols.

Further investigations led to the discovery of additional contraband near Bhimdatta Municipality-11 Electricity Office, including sugar, Misri, Chouka, balloons, badminton equipment, corks, and towels, collectively valued at around 124,400 rupees. District Police Office Kanchanpur's DSP Prakash Dangi reported that the goods, with an aggregate worth of 295,900 rupees, were found abandoned by a police patrol team on a Sunday afternoon. The confiscated items were subsequently forwarded to Customs Office Gaddachouki for requisite legal action.

In a parallel development, Kailali police disclosed that they intercepted smuggled sugar, ante, chocolates, and other items valued at approximately 24,000 rupees from Dhangadhi sub-metropolis-3 Chattakpur. Additionally, fish and onions, illegally imported and estimated at about 37,000 rupees, were seized from Salghari in Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan-9 Salghari.
