Dhangadhi: In a significant move towards community health, Seti Provincial Hospital in Dhangadhi, the temporary capital of Sudurpaschim Province, has initiated free screening for sickle cell anemia. The hospital now offers laboratory tests, specifically electrophoresis for diagnosing sickle cell anemia, without any associated charges. The hospital administration has officially announced that this service is accessible to the general public starting today.

Recognizing sickle cell anemia as a prevalent public health concern, particularly within the Tharu community, Seti Provincial Hospital has been actively engaged in conducting tests and providing treatment for affected individuals. Previously, the hospital levied charges for sickle cell screening services.

Nar Bahadur Shah (Nirmal), the chairman of the hospital management committee, confirmed that the screening service is now provided free of cost. As outlined by the hospital, individuals can avail themselves of this service through the social service unit located in room number 24. This initiative reflects the hospital's commitment to enhancing public health accessibility and addressing specific health challenges within the community.
