Tragic Stoning Incident in Achham: Arrest of Suspect in Kathmandu
Dhangadhi: An unsettling incident of a young man's fatal stoning in Achham has come to light. The victim, 18-year-old Dipendra Bahadur Shahi, hailing from Ward No. 8 of Panchdeval Vinayak Municipality in the district, lost his life in this unfortunate incident.
The Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office has taken a significant step in this case, arresting a 30-year-old woman, Lakshmi Sunar, who also happens to be a neighbor of the victim. She stands accused of the murder. The tragic event unfolded last Friday when a group of seven individuals, including a goldsmith, carried out an attack on Shahi.
Reportedly, a dispute stemming from a Facebook altercation led to a 15-year-old youth striking Shahi on the head with a stone. Subsequently, Shahi fell unconscious, and despite medical treatment in Surkhet, he did not survive. Deputy Superintendent of Police Santosh Pathak, the Chief of Achham District Police, has confirmed the arrest of seven individuals involved in the incident, including Lakshmi Sunar. In a crucial development, efforts are underway to bring the goldsmith from Kathmandu to Achham with the assistance of law enforcement, as scheduled for Thursday.
