Allegations of Student Abuse and Teacher Injury Spark Protests in Kanchanpur

Dhangadhi: Unrest has gripped the educational community in Kanchanpur as allegations of teacher misconduct have come to light. Students in Bhimdatta Municipality within the district have rallied in protest, accusing a teacher of mistreating a fellow student. The center of these allegations is Siddhanath Secondary School situated in Jimuwa, Bhimdatta Municipality-10.

A demonstration, led by students, unfolded within the school premises on Sunday, as they demanded action against Birendra Joshi, a teacher who stands accused of mistreating a female student. The protest marks a culmination of discontent that initially emerged on August 16th, when students vociferously denounced the alleged misconduct and called for appropriate measures against the accused teacher. During this protest, the students not only voiced their dissent but also resorted to pelting stones at both the teacher and the classroom.

The impact of this protest has reverberated through the school, disrupting regular teaching activities on the affected Sunday. However, the school administration has taken a different stance, asserting that the teacher in question did not engage in any form of abuse. Krishnasingh Bohara, the principal of Siddhanath Secondary School, clarified that the incident on August 17th merely involved a collision between student Kum and teacher Joshi. Similarly, teacher Joshi shared his perspective, explaining that the encounter was accidental while navigating the school premises.

In response to the escalating situation, the District Police Office in Kanchanpur took action. Prakash Dangi, the spokesperson for the office, confirmed the arrest of teacher Joshi. Dangi further disclosed that the teacher had been physically assaulted by a student during the course of the protest, resulting in injuries. The severity of the injuries prompted Joshi's transfer to Dhangadhi after he couldn't receive adequate treatment at Mahakali Hospital. Authorities have initiated a comprehensive investigation into the incident, aiming to ascertain the sequence of events and the veracity of the allegations.
